Smile Programs serve the most vulnerable children between the ages of 1 to 18 by bringing a mobile dental unit staffed with dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants directly into the community, and recently set up at New Community Harmony House, a transitional housing facility for homeless families. The staff provide a thorough dental examination or screening, dental cleaning, fluoride treatment, sealants and x-rays, when necessary. The cost of the preventative services offered by the Smile Programs is covered by most dental insurances, including Medicaid, however grant funding is also available for families in need.
