Two NCC Building Trades Students Land Construction Jobs |
Maurice Culley and Emiliano Jones start their workdays while most people are hitting the snooze button.
Fully geared up and on site by 6:30 a.m., the two young men are working for TAI Specialty Construction, a Maryland-based company that’s contracted with Kuehne Chemical Company, which is located in the industrial area of South Kearny.
They work in TAI’s Fiberglass and Coatings Division, cutting fiberglass and sanding and prepping pipes for use at the Kuehne worksite, where brine is made into bleach of a high concentration. Culley and Jones, who were hired in October and November, respectively, landed jobs with TAI as a result of training at New Community Workforce Development Center’s Building Trades Training Program. |

Thankful Hearts Overflow Around NCC Network, Senior Buildings Host Thanksgiving Dinners |
Around the New Community network, seniors and disabled adults celebrated Thanksgiving by gathering for a festive meal hosted at each building’s multipurpose room. Residents chipped in by donating funds or contributing a dish, and each meal was a lavish one, complete with turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pie, and other Thanksgiving fixings.
Check out our snapshots from each building’s Thanksgiving celebration… |

The Season to Give 2014 |
Dear Friend Of NCC,
Since Gregory enrolled in our Community Hills Early Learning Center at age 3, the transformation has been pretty amazing. Gregory was delayed in speech when we first met him. Today, through our comprehensive approach to education and our staff's nurturing support to families, Gregory has excelled academically and socially (seen in photo raising his hand). Gregory has achieved all of his educational benchmarks, has been an active participant in our holiday performances, and has received a Scholastic's literacy award. |
