New Community’s Youth Services Department hosted a Black History Month Showcase at the NCC Neighborhood Center, 56-68 Hayes St., Newark, on Feb. 24. The children in NCC’s after school programs participated in the event by reading poetry and sharing facts about Black figures who have made significant contributions, including Ruby Bridges, Mae Jemison, Kobe Bryant and Barack Obama.
