New Community Workforce Development Center hosted a two-day workshop where participants received training in workplace safety and health as regulated by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). NCC students in the Building Trades program attended the training sessions, along with participants from various vocational training programs in the area. The OSHA official, center, demonstrated safety guidelines for climbing a ladder and noted the importance of maintaining four points of contact (two feet and two hands) at all times and not carrying equipment while on a ladder. The 10-hour OSHA training was sponsored by NCC, the Urban League of Essex County, Renaissance Church of Newark and Wind of the Spirit.
