VIDEO: High School Students Volunteering At NCC Featured By WMBC-TV

High school students from Saint Peter’s Preparatory School in Jersey City lived and volunteered at New Community for a week-long urban immersion. The teens, who hailed from towns across northern New Jersey, lived in two apartments at a low-income residential building for seniors and disabled residents called New Community Associates in Newark, along with two adult staff members.

The group served at various New Community sites, including Community Hills Early Learning Center, Harmony House, a transitional housing facility for homeless families, and the Extended Care Facility, among other locations. WMBC-TV reporter Burt Sempier spoke to the students at the beginning of their urban immersion, after they had just completed day No. 1.
