21st Annual Golf Classic Set For June 30

Mark your calendar—New Community's annual charity golf outing is slated for Tuesday, June 30, at the magnificent Montclair Golf Club in West Orange.

New Community Philanthropy Officer Tracey Battles said plans for the 21st Annual Golf Outing will ensure golfers a memorable time out on the course as well as an enjoyable evening during the cocktail reception and dinner.

ShopRite Hires 14 Store Associates Trained At NCC

They have made the move from “trainee” to “store associate.”

A group of 14 individuals who arrived at New Community’s ShopRite Training Program as hopeful job seekers have landed jobs as associates at the Brookdale ShopRite in Bloomfield. The Brookdale store is owned by Neil Greenstein, who has partnered with New Community’s Workforce Development Center in anticipation of hiring hundreds of employees upon opening his second ShopRite on Springfield Avenue in Newark this year.

Rodney Brutton, NCC’s director of Workforce Development, said he was proud that 14 students from the first cohort of the training program, which relaunched in 2014, secured jobs. “Our graduates are well trained and well positioned to assume front-end positions at any area ShopRite stores,” Brutton said.

New Community recently celebrated its annual Spring Festival and Auction, which was a memorable night filled with exciting prizes, spirited dancing and camaraderie among NCC staff, residents and friends. The event benefited the Monsignor William J. Linder Scholarship Fund, which financially supports local youth to attend top-tier preparatory schools and launches their academic careers towards college and a successful future.
