Medical Billers

The New Community Workforce Development Center’s Medical Billing Specialist program trains students in medical billing and medical insurance claims processing. Students are taught on Medisoft, the most up-to-date medical software, and become proficient in ICD-9 (diagnostic codes) and CPT-4 (procedure codes). They master Medical Terminology, Insurance Terminology and Third Party Reimbursement.

Graduates are employable as Medical Billers, Medical Coding Specialists, Collection Representatives, Insurance Customer Service Representatives, Medical Receptionists, Physician Billers and Insurance Claims Processors. The course provides training in terminology, forms, codes and procedures involved in processing electronic and computerized medical insurance claims. Graduates receive a certificate and are eligible to sit for the Insurance and Coding Specialist Certification sponsored by the National Center for Competency Testing.
