CISCO Networkers
The
Cisco Networking Local Academy is a joint venture between the New Community
Workforce Development Center and Cisco Systems, the world leader in
networking. Students are introduced to the building blocks of todays
global information networks in a computer lab setting. They learn to
design, set up and maintain local networks utilizing Cisco components.
The Cisco program covers most networking topics. It starts with the
basics of computing and continues through complex network configurations
using Cisco hardware and software in LAN and WAN environments. Beginner
and advanced programs include lectures, online curricula, exams and
hands-on experience. Students learn about networking protocols, cabling,
the OSI model, bridges, routers, patch panels and connecting networks
to the Internet.
The Workforce Development Center, with support from Cisco Systems, enables
students to take advantage of the enormous opportunities of the information
economy. Graduates are prepared for the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network
Administrator) Exam, the most recognized and popular networking certification
in the networking industry.
