NCC Health Cares Medical Day Care Centers are places where disabled, chronically ill and frail adults can spend an enjoyable day in a medically supervised setting and return home each night. Medical Day Cares goal is keeping people out of institutional settings by providing the services necessary to assure the safety, comfort and independent function of each person every day. Medical Day Care services are provided in friendly social settings that are therapeutic and counteract the isolation and depression suffered by so many elderly and disabled persons
NCC Health Cares four Medical Day Care Centers provide services to more than 200 adults. They are located at four different sites in Newark:
The Medical Day Care staff works very closely with participants physicians. Participants must be 18 years and older and meet admission criteria. They attend Medical Day Care two to five days a week for at least five hours each day. The centers are open weekdays from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM and basic programming operates from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Participants may be brought to the centers by family members, an NCC Health Care hydraulic-lift mini-bus or by a 16-passenger bus.
Services provided by the Medical Day Care Centers include nursing, social services, medication, transportation, recreational activities and dietary monitoring. Medical services include Ophthalmology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Audiology, Podiatry, Dentistry, X-Ray, Ultrasound and Laboratory work. Social services include counseling, educational workshops, housing assistance, transportation and referrals.
The Medical Day Care Centers also provide hot lunches, snacks and a
long list of recreational activities, special events and trips.
