Employee Assistance Program

The Family Service Bureau of Newark’s Employee Assistance Program is available to employees and their families who may be experiencing stress in their personal or work lives.

The Employee Assistance Program can help with stress at home or at work, couples’ issues, parent-child issues, health factors and other areas of concern.

Community Crisis Intervention

Trained Family Service Bureau of Newark staff members are available to go on location to respond to crises in the workplace, school violence, natural disasters and other catastrophes. In the aftermath of the tragedy of September 11, for instance, Family Service Bureau of Newark counselors were active in Newark and around the New York metropolitan area. Staff is trained in a debriefing model that helps all involved to talk about their experiences and return to pre-crisis functioning as quickly as possible.

Training

The Family Service Institute offers a multitude of seminars for professionals and lay people both on- and off-site. Available trainings include stress management, anger management, time management, conflict resolution, parenting skills, identifying sexual abuse, substance abuse awareness, cultural sensitivity, team building and family systems theory.
