New Community Hosts Nearly 100 Chinese Teens for Cultural Exchange
New Community Corporation played host to nearly 100 Chinese teenagers who took part in a cultural exchange that saw them swapping life stories, as well as e-mails, with NCC teens during a program sponsored by Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU). Parents and children, some teary-eyed, exchanged goodbye hugs, while teachers greeted their young pupils with smiles and welcoming words, as Roseville Community Charter School in Newark opened its doors to the motto, ‘Work harder, Get smarter.’
Mariah Williams grew up in the foster care system. She was asked to leave the house at age 16 when her grandmother learned she was pregnant. "I stayed with friends and later a cousin," she explained.  One couldn't have asked for more perfect weather as New Community Corporation held its 17th Annual Golf Outing under bright, sunny skies on a gorgeous summer day at the Fiddler's Elbow Country Club in Bedminster. |
