Energy Upgrades To Save NCC And Its Residents Thousands In Utility Costs
New Community Corp. is undertaking a major weather-ization of its residential properties, a project estimated to result in a cost savings of more than $300,000 annually through energy-conserving measures like installing new boilers, lighting and thermostats. Monsignor Linder Receives Excellence In Visionary Award  New Community Founder and CEO, Monsignor William J. Linder, was recently presented with the Excellence in Visionary Award by the World Mission Foundation in recognition of his dedicated service to humanity. The United Nations-affiliated organization is dedicated to fighting HIV/AIDS among people of African descent. Monsignor's award, which he received during the foundation's 10th anniversary banquet, was presented in special consultative status with the United Nation's Economic and Social Council, also known as the ECOSOC. A delegation representing the Loyalist community in Northern Ireland visited New Community Corporation recently to help raise awareness of and seek support for their efforts in addressing social issues back home.
Children from throughout the New Community network and surrounding Newark neighborhoods were the recipients of nearly 500 new, winter coats that were given away during a recent distribution at the NCC Neighborhood Center sponsored by the national nonprofit, Operation Warm. Culinary/Auto Grads Told Hard Work, Dedication And Passion Will Pay Dividends  Graduates of New Community's Culinary Arts Specialist Program and Ford Automotive Technician Training Program were told to build upon the "solid foundation" they have been given at NCC by being hard working, dedicated and passionate employees once they enter their profession of choice. |
