Scholarship Recipient Returns To Say 'Thank You'

When Emmanuel Maduakolam thinks about the tough Irvington neighborhood where he grew up, he knows he could have easily wound up like many of his childhood friends—either dead or in jail. Instead, Maduakolam will be donning a cap and gown as he steps up to receive a communications degree from Rutgers University in New Brunswick this May.

Ready, Get Set For NCC Golf Outing June 30

The panaromic views offered by the Fiddler's Elbow Country Club in Bedminster will serve as a backdrop for New Community Corporation's 17th Annual Golf Classic on Thursday, June 30. Proceeds from the benefit Golf Classic will benefit over 3,000 disadvantaged children served by New Community's youth/ education programs, as well as homeless families served by Harmony House, NCC's transitional housing facility.

Visiting a doctor's office often involves a long waiting period, but participants in a recent health fair sponsored by the Visiting Nurse Association Health Group in Essex found they were able to have a blood pressure or cholesterol check completed within just a matter of minutes.


Earth Day Toy Delivery

More than 700 'gently used' plastic toys destined for the garbage dump were instead delivered to children at New Community Harmony House on April 20th, a special Earth Day event sponsored by the non-profit organization, Second Chance Toys.

A Doctor in the House

Dr. Christian Dort, a family medicine physician at East Orange General Hospital, checks out Prince Elias, 70, a resident of NCC Orange Senior, during a visit to the building. The doctor is making regular visits to the building as part of New Community's senior wellness initiative.
