NCC Family Resource Success Center: An Oasis For Those In Need

Laura Jefferson, a 61-year-old Newark grandmother, had been out of work for more than a year and was starting to become depressed. “I would go out everyday diligently looking for jobs-filling out applications and going on-line,” said Jefferson, who has held jobs in the retail field, post office and restaurant business over the years. “I was becoming quite desperate.”


NCC Culinary Café Has A New Look

New Community Culinary Café has undergone renovation, with its popular $3.50 lunches now being served in a brightly colored dining room featuring new wall and table accents.


Hospice Now Being Offered By New Community Corp.

New Community Corporation is now offering hospice care to the community through a collaboration with the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey, a longtime provider of end-of-life care.


“Back 2 School Store” Prepares Students for School

Nearly 400 children from throughout Essex County were better prepared to return to school this month, thanks to the Second Annual “Back 2 School Store” sponsored by the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW), Essex County Section.

HEALTH SYMPOSIUM

New Community provided blood sugar and blood pressure screening during a Health Symposium sponsored by Our Family Circle Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to education, health and community development. The event, held at St. Philip’s Academy in Newark, explored the role of faith and healing when it comes to fighting diseases like HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis in Africa.
