Culinary Arts Specialist Program

The NCC School of Culinary Arts is an accredited training school that provides occupational training through a seven month, hands-on instructional program. Students get real experience in the fully equipped commercial kitchen in the NCC Extended Care Center.

Instruction is broad based,including methods of food preparation, kitchen skills, food terminology and equipment, soups, stocks and sauces, cost control, safety, sanitation and nutrition. To fine tune their training, students complete their training with a 150 hour Internship with one of the school’s employment partners.

The NCC School of Culinary Arts has developed relationships with a diverse group of employers including, but not limited to, hotels, restaurants and major food service organizations.


Tuition, Books & Fees $5,500

Entrance Requirements
All students must be at least 17 years of age on or before the first day of class
Students can be admitted with one of the following:
  • High School Diploma
  • G.E.D. (General Education Development Certificate)
  • Ability to Benefit – If a student has no high school diploma or G.E.D. they must take a pre-placement test with a minimum score of 6th grade level in reading and math. Students may be admitted provided they can demonstrate the “ability to benefit” from the education or training offered by successfully passing a nationally recognized admissions test administered by an independent test proctor before enrolling in school.
  • Applicants must score 5.9 on the Test of Adult Basic Education or show the Ability to Benefit from the program

The New Community Culinary Cafe features tasty and delicious daily lunch specials prepared by top culinary students under the direction of highly experienced culinary professionals. The Culinary Cafe' is operated by the School of Culinary Arts program offered by New Community's Workforce Development Center.
