2016 Youth Empowerment Summit: The summit will feature an open forum with local law enforcement that focuses on the recent police shootings across the country. Students will be given the opportunity to ask questions in relation to interactions with police. Teen dating violence and choices and consequences will also be discussed at the summit. Summer Camp: NCC summer camp offers an array of educational and enrichment activities for youth ages 5-13. Campers receive breakfast, lunch and a snack and multi-site program activities such as computer classes, swimming, field trips and more.
Family Friendly Center at Newton St. Public School:
The NCC/Newton Street School Family Friendly Center provides a comprehensive after school program to address the developmental needs of youth and the social service needs of their families. Students are given an opportunity to develop their talents and discover new interests, to advance academically and to explore life-enriching possibilities.
Saturday Fun Club: The SFC engages children ages 5-12 in stimulating and age appropriate recreational activities while providing a safe and nurturing environment during alternate Saturdays.
Teen Earn and Learn: This summer program is geared towards high school students and provides job experience, academic enrichment and field trips to colleges & universities
Newark Youth Leadership Program ~ This program is designed for high school juniors and seniors and offers a combination of learning opportunities integrated with employment experience.
Project V.I.P. is NCC’s youth service learning initiative that provides students with the opportunity to apply their own skills and interests to meeting the needs of residents through weekly community service.
Young Men’s Leadership Program: YMLP is designed to promote responsibility, respect and resourcefulness for young males of high school age through adult leadership and commitment.
Just for Kids ~ This specialized program provides children ages 4-12 with educational and recreational activities.
Positive Zone: This program is available twice a week during after school hours. Teenagers are supervised in a healthy, educational environment. They learn life-skills such as healthy cooking, job interview skills and wellness maintenance. They also receive homework assistance.
