Teacher Vanessa Brown handled the cooking for the fundraiser, which offered both fish and chicken dinners, sides of macaroni and cheese and greens, fish sandwiches and beverages. Sister Maurice Okoroji, director of HHELC, seen on left, noted that the early learning center aims to support and educate nursing mothers about the importance of breastfeeding, which studies show have long-term health benefits for both mothers and their babies. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards purchasing a privacy screen, seating and educational signage for the nursing corner.
